FOLLOW-UP

A multi-part questionnaire completed by the local community in partnership with a local organization that helps create a social map to understand our potential to work together.

A facilitated, multi-day, planned process identifying challenges, assets, and solutions that charts a collective path forward with our partner communities.

A knowledge-sharing event or series of events that train community members to create and install basic life-improving technologies that form the building blocks for households and communities.

A set of iterative steps to measure, assess, share, and encourage the effectiveness of the project and to inform future decision making, all facilitated by a community-based Coach.

Training and knowledge-sharing is offered in seven basic, life-improving technologies that are proven, low-cost, and appropriately selected in partnership with the local community.

BioSand Water Filter

A slow-sand filter that uses sand, gravel, and gravity to remove up to 99% of the pathogens from water.

Interlocking Soil Stabilized Brick Making Press

A press that uses only soil, a stabilizer like cement, and manual pressure to produce unfired, climate-saving bricks.

Rocket Stove

A stove that requires 47% less fuel and produces 75% fewer emissions by using a narrow combustion chamber that creates intense heat.

Microflush Toilet

A vermicomposting, off-grid, odor-free, and fly-free toilet that separates solids and liquids for natural processing and flushes on less than .15 liters of water.

Rainwater Catchment Tank

A ferrocement tank made with bricks and mortar connected to a roof line that captures precipitation, safely stored in volumes up to 20,000 liters.

Permagarden

A small-plot garden system that utilizes indigenous permaculture principles, rainwater capture and soil amendments to sustainably produce food year round.

Soap-Making

Hygiene information and a recipe-making process that creates liquid or bar soap using sulphonic acid or an oil or fat and additives like fragrance or color that fit local customs.

Partnering

We can’t do it all. That’s why we have parters who implement their  complimentary technologies like solar, micro-financing, and land management.
